Members of the Maryland General Assembly are responsible for passing state laws, raising and appropriating funds, and helping shape public policy across Maryland. Each year, legislators also consider the State’s operating and capital budgets and thousands of pieces of legislation.
For Washington County’s business community, the decisions made in Annapolis can have a direct impact here at home. Taxes, workforce development, transportation and infrastructure, economic development, education, regulations, and state investment are just some of the areas where state policy can affect local employers and our region’s economic future.
Washington County’s delegation also provides an important connection between our community and state government, representing local interests and considering legislation specific to Washington County.
This forum provides an opportunity to hear directly from candidates for the House of Delegates and State Senate about their priorities, perspectives, and approaches to important topics impacting Washington County and Maryland.
We encourage Chamber members and business leaders to attend, stay informed, and gain a better understanding of the candidates before casting their ballots.
Decisions made in Annapolis can have an impact on businesses right here in Washington County — making it important for our business community to stay informed and engaged.
